America is NOT a democracy!
Never was, is not and never will be. It is a Constitutional Republic!
At the close of America’s Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin was reportedly asked by George Washington’s friend, Mrs. Elizabeth Powell of Philadelphia, “Well, doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” Franklin responded, “A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”
This exchange was recorded by Constitution signer James McHenry in a diary entry that was later reproduced in the 1906 American Historical Review.
To regain the America our Founders created, we have to understand what their intent was by reading their writings.
The decision to create a republic was largely influenced by the ideas that the Roman Republic incorporated into its rule. The most attractive principles to which the Founding Fathers were drawn include:
Government power is held by the people.
The people elect the leaders they want representing them and, in doing so, invest their power in their representatives.
The representatives are tasked with helping every citizen in the country they serve, not a select few.
What is a democracy as opposed to a republic?
The definition of democracy is "a system of government by the whole population, or all eligible members, rule by majority at all times."
Our Founders felt a democracy had no need of a constitution, for its only rule is the majority always rules, which is incompatible with a constitution that limits and specifies governmental power. The usurpation over the rights of one party by another is what they chose to avoid. This is precisely why America is a Constitutional Republic.
To utter the word “democracy” was literally a blasphemy to the Founders:
Democracy never lasts long,” he noted. “It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself.” He insisted, “There was never a democracy that ‘did not commit suicide.'” - John Adams
We are a Republican Government. Real liberty is never found in despotism or in the extremes of Democracy. - Alexander Hamilton
democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible - James Madison, The Federalist, No. 10
(democracy), “a government by the passions of the multitude, or, no less correctly, according to the vices and ambitions of their leaders.” On another occasion, he labeled democracy’s majority rule one of “the intermediate stages towards … tyranny.” He later opined: “Democracy, in its best state, is but the politics of Bedlam; while kept chained, its thoughts are frantic, but when it breaks loose, it kills the keeper, fires the building, and perishes.” - Fisher Ames, served in the first U.S. Congress during Washington's two terms
Which is why “Republican” is the form of government mentioned in the Constitution, not democracy!
United States Constitution Article IV Section 4
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. (emphasis added)
So elected officials as evidenced by their election, are either purposely ignorant or liars when they talk about “saving our democracy”. Every media talking head, reporter, newspaper and social media site the same!
It is absolutely essential for our democracy that we win. I fear for our democracy if the Republicans were ever to get the gavel. We can’t let that happen, - Speaker Nancy Pelosi
How and why did the falsehood America is a democracy begin?
Around the beginning of the 20th century, the falsehood that democracy was the best form government and that the Founding Fathers had created a democracy not a Constitutional Republic government became widespread:
President Woodrow Wilson:
Attended Johns Hopkins University, a direct creation of the Prussian school system I spoke about in a previous essay, How Education Was Destroyed In America.
The “father of progressivism” and the administrative state, that government needs to be run by “college educated experts.”
He felt the Declaration and Constitution were outdated:
The Declaration of Independence did not mention the questions of our day. It is of no consequence to us…. - Woodrow Wilson
Governments are what the politicians make them, - Woodrow Wilson
For Wilson, the separation of powers was the source of much of what was wrong with American government. Such a system served only to impede genuine democracy,
President Woodrow Wilson famous 1916 appeal that our nation enter World War I “to make the world safe for democracy”
President Franklin Roosevelt President in 1940 getting America into WWII in Europe:
(America), must be the great arsenal of democracy.
By 1952 the U.S. Army was singing the praises of democracy, instead of warning against it, in Field Manual 21-13, entitled The Soldier’s Guide. This new manual incorrectly stated: “Because the United States is a democracy, the majority of the people decide how our Government will be organized and run….” (Emphasis in original.)
President Lyndon Johnson in a 1964 White House address:
We are going to try to take all of the money that we think is unnecessarily being spent and take it from the ‘haves’ and give it to the ‘have nots’ that need it so much.
Why our Republic is failing.
Because we are delegating our authority to take care of the day-to-day affairs of the government, “We the People” are consistently making bad choices. We do research on plumbers, electricians, doctors, etc., before we hire them, yet when it comes time to hire a person giving them the authority to make life and death decisions on your behalf, we pick the one with the (D) or the (R) in front of their name. Or choose the one with the name we recognize. Or make no choice at all by not voting. Then complain about the outcome!
The power factor.
Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority. There is no worse heresy than that the office sanctifies the holder of it. - Lord Acton
Very few of us handle power well. The ones that handle it the worst are the ones we choose over and over again to represent us:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned the House of Representatives into her personal dictatorship:
Despite being briefed with minority leader McCarthy by the FBI that Representative Swalwell (D, California) was a security risk for colluding with a known Chinese spy, she kept him on the Intelligence Committee.
Pelosi unconstitutionally withheld the Articles of Impeachment from the Senate, which was obstruction of the Senate, the same charge she leveled against President Trump!
She would not seat the Republicans that Minority Leader McCarthy chose for the Jan. 6 Committee and instead chose biased haters of Trump, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.
Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has done the same:
Squandered $6 million to get Lisa Murkowski re-elected even though she was running against a Republican.
Pulled $5.6 million from New Hampshire’s Republican Senate candidate Don Bolduc two days after Bolduc gave an interview with Politico saying he opposed McConnell for another term in leadership.
The Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) which is basically controlled by Mitch McConnell cancelled support for Arizona Republican Blake Masters because Masters opposed McConnell for leadership.
This all of course threw the Senate majority to the Democrats. He absolutely should have done everything in his power as Republican Senate leader to prevent that!
Pulled Senator Rick Scott from the Commerce Committee for running against him for majority leader. Pulled Sen. Mike Lee from the Commerce Committee for voting against him. Pulled Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley from the Armed Services Committee last month as retribution for delaying the confirmation of multiple Defense Department nominees last year, and for voting against Mitch McConnell as top Republican.
Washington Governor Inslee, aka, “lord Inslee”:
On Feb. 29, 2020, he declared a health emergency because corona virus was a “pandemic that is killing people.”
Eighteen months later, Inslee passed Proclamation 21-14 that continued to give himself emergency powers because of COVID.
When asked by a reporter why the emergency has continued for two years, his response was:
As we’ve said for two years, it’s to make decisions to keep people safe and that federal money will keep coming so it’s important to keep this in place right now.
Michigan Governor Whitmere:
Closed areas of the store—by cordoning them off, placing signs in aisles, posting prominent signs, removing goods from shelves, or other appropriate means—that are dedicated to the following classes of goods: (A) Carpet or flooring. (B) Furniture. (C) Garden centers and plant nurseries. (D) Paint.
What was “essential” in Michigan? Marijuana, lottery tickets & alcohol!
California Governor Newsome:
Despite totalitarian Covid edicts on California citizens, here he is violating his own edicts with friends:
The “icing on the cake”, New York Governor Hochul:
Famous fans of Democracy:
Karl Marx in “the Communist Manifesto”:
“the first step in the revolution by the working class is to raise the proletariat to the position of ruling class, to win the battle of democracy.” For what purpose? To “abolish private property”; to “wrest, by degrees, capital from the bourgeoisie”; to “centralize all instruments of production in the hands of the State”; etc. (emphasis mine)
Mao Tse-tung:
Taken as a whole, the Chinese revolutionary movement led by the Communist Party embraces the two stages, i.e., the democratic and the socialist revolutions, which are essentially different revolutionary processes, and the second process can be carried through only after the first has been completed. The democratic revolution is the necessary preparation for the socialist revolution, and the socialist revolution is the inevitable sequel to the democratic revolution. The ultimate aim for which all communists strive is to bring about a socialist and communist society. (emphasis mine)
Mikhail Gorbachev in his 1987 book “Perestroika”:
according to Lenin, socialism and democracy are indivisible…. The essence of perestroika lies in the fact that it unites socialism with democracy [emphasis in the original] and revives the Leninist concept…. We want more socialism and, therefore, more democracy.
So, in order to walk the clueless into the hell holes of socialism and communism, they first need to be sold the wonders of democracy!
The obvious next step, the “Democrat Socialist”:
From “BizpacReview:
A Democratic Socialist is someone who will take from the wealthy and give to everyone else, re-distributing the wealth produced by capitalism. They label capitalists as “authoritarians and oligarchs.” They want governments to tax whatever assets you own at death, up to as much as 77% in America. These socialists will impose an additional annual “wealth tax” on households worth more than a certain amount, to pay for free college tuition and Medicare for All. They want labor unions and employees to control private corporations instead of corporate officers and shareholders, and they want a guaranteed job for all. They will send payroll taxes and the corporate tax rate skyrocketing, decimating U.S. jobs and rendering businesses unable to expand. Wide swaths of batty Dems endorse The Green New Deal, requiring that America be carbon neutral within 10 years, thus displacing tens of millions of workers in certain industries.
Some of the traitors to the Constitution to name a few:
Representative Alexandria Casio Cortez (AOC)
Senator Bernie Sanders
“Beto” O’Roarke
Your Job:
Now that you have this information, share it and use it to correct the absolute misinformation that America is a democracy. I have shown you how it is a Constitutional Republic with numerous examples and why a democracy as pointed out by the Founders and fans of democracy like Marx, Mao and Gorbachev, that a democracy guarantees the destruction of your country, which is, unfortunately, well under way.
If I've not convinced you yet, take a month long trip to Venezuela or some other socialist hell-hole. Then get back to me.
Thank you Frederick. I remember that one now. A well written explanation of the whole farce. I think there are some left that our thoughts will sink in and change the flow of the current.
Good one Dave. We have evolved into a Dumbocracy https://frederickrsmith.substack.com/p/democracy-for-dummies-5c7
