The Founders created the Judicial Branch to be the weakest of the three. How did judges go from not only unconstitutionally rewriting legislation but rewriting the actual Constitution itself?

The branches are co-equal, by design. Tgat one or the other tries to become the strongest is a fact of history.
Each branch was theoretically to jealously guard its power against the other two.

And our other two branches of government sit on their corrupt behinds and let this happen in a system of supposed checks and balances...
