Thank you. I steered away from her because I was trying to give a sampling of the lesser known Founding Mothers and because I had read about her on your Substack. Great essay!
The doctor was honorable and kept her secret. People think back in their day everything was so man oriented. She did her service and deserved her pension. It was only right she got it.
David, I very much enjoyed reading this post! It should be required reading in schools in honor if the REAL women's month. I am going to cross-post this before the month ends!
"As secularists continually pit men against women in arguments involving money and power, we can celebrate the fact that God uses the courageous faith of both men and women to advance his eternal kingdom."
Excellent and much needed historical perspective. One of my earliest ancestors in America was an immigrant midwife in Boston. She was jailed for her work and became famous as the first woman’s rights advocate. A 4th or 5th grandfather rode with Paul Revere but received almost no credit. American history is impossibly rich with history. Another female is famous for clearing out her region of British pre revolutionary war.
Yes. The limitations of one essay. I know them well. My family never really knew it’s history. I am the first generation to have a sense. I keep discovering more daily. It would be too many stories for a library.
Oh boy Dave! Another essay you beat me to the punch. I have been conteplating writing about the great women of history. Great job!
Thank you! What do you think the tangle between these WOMEN and the men pretending would look like😂
Snowflakes falling on a campfire
I have to add Betsy Ross! I grew up in her footsteps https://frederickrsmith.substack.com/p/usa-flag-part-2-betsy-ross

Like I said. They were some consummate bad asses!
I thought her story was interesting, getting away with it for two years. And obtaining a pension.

Thank you. So you have some "depth" here in America. Congratulations. I only touched the tip here of all the fascinating stories.
