The hunting I have done has been critical to the man I have become. Much of the madness of the day is because so many people are so far removed from nature and from where our food comes from.

I never left wild places without feeling at peace. A big reason they are trying to herd us into cities and get us off the land.

Environmentalism began as an attempt to protect nature from people. Now even that has devolved in the main to separate people from the earth.

Years before we moved west, we heard they wanted to create a "green corridor" from California all the way to British Columbia devoid of people. The Klamath Falls water shutoff to farmers over a smelt! Water shut off in San Joaquin valley which dried up orchards. Strange fires in California. The Spotted Owl fake that shut down woods and whole logging towns dry up and blow away. Wolves were reintroduced into Eastern Washington state that decimate live stock. We said no to Grizzly bears twice and they keep pushing. (Of course you know they have already planted them.)

I wish we could make peace with wolves, bears and pollinators, without government or environmentalists trying to force the issue. We can't expect peace from nature if we can't let nature be nature. That said, people are of nature, so any attempt to remove us from nature is by definition evil.

The first is an interesting proposition that would require people with no agenda. The second is absolutely true.

My uncle Pete was the big hunter, in the family, he'd go to Iron Mountain, Michigan each year, and bag deer, sometimes a bear. He bought tags in each of his sons' names. Brought the back butchered, and frozen. Locally rabbit and squirrel plus fishing. Only a few items came from a grocery store, which had much fewer brands and items to choose from than today's stores do.

Now we are facing a RESET and SOCIAL EQUITY on food prices. Plus they finally noticed Heavy Metals in Baby Food. That has been there for decades. Blame the Fertilizers, and Pesticides, while food actually lists Glyphosate in most Kids' cereal, General Mills has the highest rating on that; the same ingredient in Round-up that causes cancer.

Turkey prices have dropped by a lot as Thanksgiving planning ramps up https://www.wtkr.com/news/national-news/turkey-prices-have-dropped-by-a-lot-as-thanksgiving-planning-ramps-up

SOCIAL EQUALITY.

Like Hades they are selling Turkeys at .39 cents, Krogers in W.TN are .99 cents with a $25 purchase, and in Ohio .49 cents,

https://www.wtkr.com/news/thanksgiving-turkey-prices-expected-to-be-lower-this-year-some-sides-to-be-more-expensive

And to top that off ALL PRICES ARE GOING UP! Partly as changes in ingredients are being made. They are supposed to be healthier but are they? Cali is banning 17 ingredients from food. King Charles 3, is banning cigarettes for life. While I know smoking is bad, it is not the only cause of Lung diseases. COPD.

My grandfather never smoked, but did work in the coal mines, and had Black Lung, known then as Minors Asthma. But it was not that which killed him. Medical ERROR BY A POORLY TRAINED NURSE DID.

Many jobs have inadequate hearing and breathing protection. War is just one. Steel Mills, and Fire Fighters, etc.

Times are certainly different than they used to be. The true Bad asses who made this country are becoming fewer and fewer. As far as medicine, that why they call it PRACTICE, not a profession like other jobs.

The joke on the laughing jackass is there are more guns in Australia now then when they banned them!

Plus knife use in crimes went up. Australia is crawling with all types of venomous critters too. The American gun buybacks have all failed, the only guns turned in were usually useless hunks of junk just as likely to backfire on the user. We guard our 2nd A right strongly, even to the point of changing states.

A very well written essay and a celebration of your uncle's life. There is nothing better than being out in the pre-dawn forest, waiting quietly for deer or turkey to come by.

Thank you. Around this time of the year I do some reflecting and decided to write it down. Some my most peaceful times were experienced in the woods, not getting anything, just enjoying creation. As I said, everything else plays its part in God's creation. As we see all around us, man is the creator of evil.

What a great post David, thanks. I've always loved fly fishing and pheasant hunting. During my stint in the military, I went pheasant hunting with an Army Vietnam Helicopter Machine Gunner. He used a 22 lr. Don't recommend that but, he actually got one in flight. Apparently got lots of practice in Nam. I'll never forget that...

Thank you. I enjoy both. THAT is some impressive shooting. Kinda a skill out of necessity?🤔

Dad grew up in Quebec, (1926 born) with 4 brothers, hunting Moose every year. Kept it up even after he moved to Detroit, sometimes deer more locally. Neither of 2 brothers took up the tradition, because hunting had become 'non-pc' by the 1970s. Certainly I, as the last child, girl, was not gonna take up the rifle or hunting. But I have come to be the 'one' who wanted the older ways, the (part) Algonquin ways, and now I stand at this crossroads as the iatrogenocide comes for us all. I look forward to practicing shooting now, and understand the importance of houseold firearms in the whole scheme of things. I wish Dad was still around to discuss this, but I do appreciate your post immensely.

You are most welcome. In research for my next post, I found there are over 13 million pistol target shooters alone in the U.S. Wherever you are, if you ask or look around, there is a gun club of some type that would be happy to help you in your pursuit and education. NRA gives classes too. Good luck.

Now the only hunting most kids do these days is looking for "rewards" in their childish video games. Paul wrote in 1 Cor 13:11 "When I was a child, I was speaking like a child, I was thinking like a child, I was reasoning like a child; when I became a man, I did away with the things of the child."

The result being they never become men and women. Children are far easier to lead and manipulate than mature adults.

Fantastic and beautiful story with tips as a bonus! Yes, it’s important not to dwell on the punch ... and most mornings I take my place at the top of the ravine with all my feathered and furry companions and together we marvel at creation. And I like to sing My Fathers World quietly out loud.

Love your writing

Thank you. I agree. The times I could think the clearest were out in God's creation and listening for His voice.
