Top shelf Dave. You hit the high points and the section about Washington made my day. Here is a great rendition of THE MAN! https://youtu.be/JgCQDZdlMdc

Thank you Frederick. I often wonder what the Founders would make of the mess we made of what they gave us. Thanks for the link. We watched that great program.

Yes we watched it also and more. These men had a spark which has been all bit extinguished today. They managed to rise from the bounds of European exceptionalism and the bounds of excess politeness and privilege to better understand themselves and therefore we the people. I wrote a post based around it here:

So basically, Biden is a tyrant and traitor to the Constitution, but we, the people, are either too stupid or too cowardly to arrest him and try him for his treason.

On both counts yes. We have put the traitors in power who enabled and protect him.

Yup, the parallels are many, the crime-list long-- An' we've fallen further still since this wuz originally penned...

George had his good moments--Trenton fer sure--but some (at the NY Historical Society!) say mebbe he wuzn't the best strategist after all (?). Havin' many times stood on the hill in Ft. Green where GW retreated ignominiously an' in dire haste, havin' full-out flopped (Battle of Brooklyn) an' lost many of his troops ta British prison ships--an' havin' visited the home of poor Nathan Hale (whom George basically / callously sacrificed), I'd say he was overall a hero but sometimes a dolt an' overall--perhaps not "quite" the wisest commander when it came to plannin'. That said, I don't know all that much 'bout war / strategy but seems like he had a lotta close shaves an' he lost a lotta men to "error"... Not ta take 'im down a notch--just sayin' his oratory skills likely exceeded those in battle... Happy ta celebrate our foundin' fathers--warts 'n all!

Yes, I also rely on attempting to imagine how we may better cope with the present by reanimating these giants who once walked among us. Because I explored this subject myself and realizing how divided we are on this forum by a variety of corporate mechanisms I will repost here an essay edited this morning.
