Blame the adoption of the 17th Amendment! The Founders original intent was thwarted when Senators ceased being appointed by State legislatures. We've been living with the result for 112 years.
Putting it up to the citizens to vote for Senators, when they'd had the Constitutional authority to elect Representatives since the Constitution was ratified on 6/21/1788, forever altered the intent inherent in the original Constitution.
The supposed Progressive reasons for it sometime corruption at the state level and sometimes states went without Senators because of bickering. It was hurried by interestingly getting the states to almost form the dreaded Article V Convention of States then the Congress hurried up to do it so they could dictate terms.
The result? Senators are more corrupted than ever and mostly act for lobbyists rather than constituents. Worse, they don't even live in their states till election time.
Here in Delaware we have one of those "affirmative action" style people running for the Senate. She basically won the state's House seat (we only have one) because she convinced voters it was the "turn" for a black woman to represent the state, so I'm sure she'll use the same message against what looks to be a white male Republican opponent.
Maybe we should give all prospective Senators a citizenship test on the Constitution so they understand their proper role. It seems now their only rule is self-preservation in office, at the public teat.
Blackburn has no business in the Senate with a 66 score. David Kustoff has a 57 score, RINOS. And both represent my district. They are the lowest-scoring legislators in Tennessee. Time for them to depart. They sell themselves as Conservatives.
all these people should be removed. judges who don't know the constitution or the law. Congress members who don't read what is being voted on. buttigieg completely useless, should have long been thrown out. Even a child could do better. A great list of useless eaters. They should all give back their wages, their assets confiscated, to lender the damage they have done. Then they can find a job as a burger turner at one of the burger tents. No benifits whatsoever left.

My wife said long ago there should be a Civics test when you file for any office.

How about garbage sorters at a sewage treatment plant? Don't think I would trust them to make and serve burgers.
