To be just a bit fairer to the 51 former intelligence officials. The CIA has always been on the ideological/political Left. Even when it was opposing Communism in Europe, its strategy was to prop up the Socialist Parties, giving voters the next best thing to keep them out of the deepest weeds.

But the gang of 51 actually did not say the laptop was or even appeared to be Russian disinformation. This was the media’s interpretation, which they plastered everywhere. Even Trump gets this wrong. What these intelligence officials said was that the laptop (appearing when and where it did, with its pungent political import) looked to them like a Russian INFORMATION campaign, not the same thing. Influence efforts by foreign governments or our own will readily seize upon true events and flog them for all they’re worth

However it was interpreted, they lied. They KNEW the laptop was authentic and warred against the American people by helping rig an election.

I’m not saying these were necessarily all wonderful people, who might indeed have had an agenda to derail the Hunter laptop investigation. But if their claim is not one that can be refuted, then it’s the media who misreported their words, over and over and over again. Deliberately? Probably is certainly my assessment but how to prove that? They can say they simply misread the statement and everyone stays out of jail for obstruction of Justice

When you put your name on something, you have responsibility to make sure it is accurate. The FBI KNEW since 2019 the laptop was authentic. These "security experts" who all for some reason still have security clearances had no access to that fact? They had numerous opportunities to apologize. Brennan point blank said no.

In the key part of the letter they specifically disavow knowing anything. They are voicing suspicions, nothing more than that:

“we write to say that the arrival on the US poli<cal scene of emails purportedly belonging to Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his time serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a

Russian information on operation.

We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by

President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have

evidence of Russian involvement -- just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the

Russian government played a significant role in this case. If we are right…”

Now, if you want to say this whole effort was a massive setup, engineered by the DNC so the intelligence officials get to keep their hands clean while the media runs with a bogus story that can be plausibly defended as an honest mistake, fine. I’m probably with you there. But as with a lot of these things, Joe Voter doesn’t read the fine print on page 47. As I say, even Trump read the press accounts and believed them

Shame on him. His biggest mistake was not getting rid of rats and too easily believing BS

Weeeelllll my point was kind of that they didn’t lie, as i understood it, they didn’t question the authenticity of the laptop (that I have seen), what looked suspicious to them was its sudden appearance at a convenient time for political gain.

Still had a responsibility to verify what they were signing.
